The one with two interviews

Image
Happy Tuesday! Today I had two different interviews. The first one was with the Honors Forum and Rachel, who was conducting the interview, essentially told me that I am an ideal candidate and that I crushed the interview! The second one was for SGA and it also went well. I was significantly more nervous about this one than the Honors Forum one but for no real reason. I should hear back from the Honors Forum mid-February and the SGA sometime in the next 48 hours but probably less than that. Besides those two interviews it has been a pretty good start to my week. I am only slightly ahead of my current work load and I am making more friends so that is good! The snow has returned and I think we have almost 6 more inches, w which is what it is but for the most part I feel like this... but the campus is no longer ugly so I will take the froze over the ugly brown. And I think that is it for now! lots of love me

One week done

They warned us when we came back that we would have to put ourselves out there and be more extroverted, but I forgot how exhausting it is and this has been a really long week. Long but a really good first week. I think that I like my classes and I am really excited to see what will come in the next weeks, but let me give you an overview of my courses. Classical World- Is really interesting and is being taught by the 5 professors of the classics department. Also there is a great reading list for the course.  Early Childhood teaching- I didn't realize this one has so many observation hours in a classroom but I am so excited. I start my observations Sunday morning.  Spanish- I was really worried that I wouldn't be at the right level but I think that I picked the right one and I have met some people in the class who are really nice.  English- this class is my wildcard class because the professor may be retiring soon and there is no syllabus, but I have faith.  ...

A really good day

Dear Olivia, Today has been a really good day and here is why. Today you had your first day of classes and really crushed it. Today I got up and did some yoga during sunrise because I couldn't find the treadmill in my building. Then I showered and packed my bag.  I had breakfast with some of my friends and then headed out to Spanish.  I arrived 10 minutes early and sat with this girl named Georgia and we are going to do some of our course work together this semester. #making friends. Also I think this is the right level for me which is good! then I had lunch with my peer mentor and some other Londoners.  After that I headed to Case to pick up one of my books and do my Spanish homework Next I headed to my English class which was an experience. We don't/won't have a syllabus for the class because the class goal is to make all of us competent and comfortable writers with distinct voices. We had to do another diagnostic today which was annoying.  Then I went...

10 minutes

Today has been a whole lot of nothing. More people have moved in but it has still been pretty quiet. Now you may be wondering why this is titled 10 minutes. Firstly because almost everything on campus is 10 minutes away from where I am living and secondly I learned that you can get frostbite in around 10 minutes right now. I learned this from a great email from Res Life <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> January 21, 2019 Dear Students, Welcome back! We are excited to have you back on campus. Unfortunately, the weather is quite chilly. If you can stay inside, please do so! If not, please take appropriate precautions. If you decide to venture out of your residence hall or apartment, please be sure to bundle up! According to weather.com and other local forecasts, our area has a wind chill advisory until 6:00 PM. As of right now, the air tempe...

No Orientation

SO because of the snowstorm almost all of my orientation activities were cancelled, but that didn't stop us from having fun! After breakfast I went on a low-key tour but all of the buildings were locked so it was really just a nice walk. Then I hung out in Dhall with a bunch of other London freshman before going back to my room for a bit. Then after I did a little organizing, I went out and joined the snowball fight. It was fun and I didn't even get hit too badly. After that Kayleigh and I hung out with Jesse and did another low key tour. Then we talked about clubs and classes and I think that I am going to join the student government association but I'm not sure yet. Then we had another big dinner where we met a bunch of former Londoners which was really cool to see the relationships years later. I think that is all that happened... wait I also learned how to access my mailbox so winning! Goodnight Everybody

ready to rock and roll

This morning we all got up fairly early and drove to Skidmore. Upon arrival I was given yet another folder of materials and a Skidmore travel mug. Then we started to move everything into my room. Then as we were finishing up, Heidi arrived. It was so nice to see her again and I am so pumped for this semester. We have a great view and one wall is floor to ceiling windows. There are some random flurries but the snow hasn't really hit yet but the threat has caused all of the orientation activities to be cancelled. Right now Heidi is taking a nap and then we are getting lunch and most likely hanging out with others until London Dinner.

Moving In!

Hi Folks,  As you know I am moving into Skidmore tomorrow morning. Once I move in, I will have some orientation activities (that may or may not be cancelled because of snow) and then classes start on Tuesday. I will be living with my London roommate Heidi in room 906 of Johsson tower (one of the newer dorms on campus). Also this semester I will be taking a Spanish course, Intro to cultural anthropology, classical world, explore early childhood teaching, and language and its usages (a writing seminar).  I know that some of you have been asking for my mailing address so I am more than happy to share it with you now.  Olivia Rosenblum, Class of 2022 Mailbox # 2009  Skidmore College 815 North Broadway  Saratoga Springs, NY 12866-1632 Have a great long weekend  Olivia  PS I will be keeping up the blog again but not daily

Happy New Year
