Capturing a Unicorn

For those of you that have been following for a while know that last spring I was involved with the Tang Museum's Roommate program. If you are newer, it is a program where you take a piece of art from the museum and live with it for the semester, you can read all about my last experience here!

Given the pandemic, I did not have to get up at 4:30 in the morning and wait outside in the Saratoga winter. Instead, I put my name into a lottery and luckily I was pulled 23rd! The following Sunday most of the participants hopped on a Zoom call and one by one we picked from the pieces available. It was more nerve wracking this time around because we watched the pieces get taken, but it was cool because we really got to see who was going home with each piece. Nevertheless I got to bring home a piece that I am super happy with. I definitely need to do some digging but the name reminds me of the Unicorn Tapestries, which my Honors Forum group discussed in our independent project last semester.

The other big difference from last year is that I had to wait a few days to pick up the piece. It was worth the wait, I do humbly present Capture of the Unicorn 2002

I will work on getting a nicer photo up but that requires me to be around when the sunlight is nice looking in the apartment.

As a fun bonus, one of my housemates also has a roommate and so the two pieces hang across from each other, which we are so excited about (a bonus fun fact about this fun fact is that my housemate just finished an independent research project on the frame and she crushed it)
