Wrapping Up the First Week

So following the first day post, I did in fact have a second day! and even a third and fourth and fifth!

The second day we were still at the retreat but there was less team building and more lectures and discussions around the divisions strategic initiatives (and their wording) as well as how to support students  in their own self authorship. I did miss some of that discussion as I joined the other fellows on a mental health training debrief. It was overall a good discussion but a little rough around the edges as their were some very strong feelings.

Wednesday was my first day in the building and my office, wow I still can't wrap my head around that! After a building tour I was welcomed with some goodies featuring snacks and muhlenberg hillel t-shirts. I will share some photos of my office once it is decorated and feels a bit less like an office you might get in trouble in.

Thursday I went on a campus tour, had lunch in the dining hall, and met with the dean of admissions. All of which really aided me in getting my steps in as well as getting to know the layout of my new campus. Although it is definitely different from Skidmore, it is a lot less overwhelming that I thought it would be.

Friday was a calm day of fighting with technology and drawers that were stuck in my desk. As well as a glorious lunch outside and an adventure to a "farmer's market," which was more similar to Pike's Place in Seattle than what I expect of a farmers market.

And that brought a wrap to week one! At this juncture I am very excited to see what comes next and for the students to arrive.

Happy Sunday,

me
