Nearly halfway there

 This summer has been flying by, as of next Saturday we will be halfway through the summer and it has been a wild ride. Right now I have been serving as both Leadership Program Director and Program Director. This means that I spend my time training and directing the Counselors in Training as well as creating original programming and supporting the rest of camp. 

Like any new adventure there are lots of stumbling blocks and I feel that I have hit them all but this is the first time in this higher management position. Nevertheless for each low, the highs of camper smiles, staff confidence or my CITs crushing it. With these highs comes being the one to lead a lot of the traditions that I grew up with, which has been super funky but also really cool!

Beyond that we keep chugging on, right now I am enjoying a much needed 24 hours off and away from camp. Since 5 pm yesterday I finished a book, watched the sunset on the beach, watched the latest episode of Loki and a bit of Downton abbey and went for a swim. The rest of today will be chill because it is what I want it to be, but a trip to the book store is in my future!

I lost the game! and other fun traditions

One day last week, or maybe it was the week before, was national wear your camp t-shirt day-of which no one (at school) that I know participated. However there is no need to fret because yours truly-super counselor extraordinaire remembered and wore her staff shirt from last summer. This combined with the Hillel retreat where we sang a lot of the end of session songs and an email encouraging us to apply for summer 2020, reminded me of all the little traditions from camp that I wish took place more in my daily life. For my camp friends reading this I hope it doesn't make you too nostalgic, and for everyone else maybe this a way to bring a little bit of fun to the office or maybe the holidays. The pineapple game When you are out with a group of people the first one to point to the pineapple and say I win. Wins. Yep- that's the whole game. I do highly recommend it for group shopping trips as it brings a sense of adventure to what can be a drab day at the mall. Invisible ...

Less Busy

Yesterday I got up and worked on some papers and then around 11 decided to make up my mind for the day. I had a kind bar and hit the road. I went to the Barbican, Postman's Park, and Postal museum The Barbican is a really unique building because it has plants overall the windows. The Postman's Park is much smaller than many parks that I have been to but that there are some titles that describe heroic events live saving children from a fire. Finally the Postal museum was incredible. I didn't think that I would enjoy it nearly as much as I did. Also at the museum, you can ride the mail rail, which is the old mail cart which would run under the city. Overall I had a great time and I was able to walk most of these so I saw many new parts of the city. Today I leave for Derby today to visit a camp friend. Meal Prep and a Movie

This will be brief because I am going to watch a movie with some friends. Today I got up and read in bed for a bit. I then got up and worked out before going foodshopping. I got stuff for the week and also to make Nutella brownies with. They were pretty good, a little gooey but that didn't stop anyone. I then proofread a paper and did more research for AA overall it was a really chill day.
