Nearly halfway there

 This summer has been flying by, as of next Saturday we will be halfway through the summer and it has been a wild ride. Right now I have been serving as both Leadership Program Director and Program Director. This means that I spend my time training and directing the Counselors in Training as well as creating original programming and supporting the rest of camp.  Like any new adventure there are lots of stumbling blocks and I feel that I have hit them all but this is the first time in this higher management position. Nevertheless for each low, the highs of camper smiles, staff confidence or my CITs crushing it. With these highs comes being the one to lead a lot of the traditions that I grew up with, which has been super funky but also really cool! Beyond that we keep chugging on, right now I am enjoying a much needed 24 hours off and away from camp. Start of a Camp Summer

 I was told that it has been a whole month since my last post and in fact in has only been a couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, I once again moved in to camp! This time on the Administrative team with the dual title of Leadership and Program Director. This means that I run the Counselor-in-training program as well as create and maintain the non-water related programming. These past two weeks have been a busy set of cleaning, organizing and training our new and returning staff.  Tomorrow the first set of campers arrive and my CITs. I am not sure I am ready for them but I am excited nonetheless.  It has been funky being on this new level. I am now dad to staff that use to be my campers and deal with issues that I would not expect to come up (no scandals such as 2019) but interpersonal conflicts over flamingoes and a lack of laundry lines.
