Sharing my writing part 1

So, now that I am basically done writing for my childhood fiction class I figured I would share some of my content with you. This was a fiction writing class but as I am sure my fellow writers know, a lot of fiction is based off of real life experiences.  Our Family just the Three, well Four, of Us  “I love our family just the three of us” was the last thing I said before my world was flipped upside down. It was a peaceful Saturday, I sat in an armchair by a large open window-the sun warming my skin and glistening off the snow. The news was shared quickly and after some questions about whether I was ok or not. The truth sunk in; I was going to be a big sister! The rest of that day is a blur to me now, but it was filled with excitement and joy and the tiniest bit of fear.  The next few weeks, I kept the secret, but it was harder than I imagined, the topic of babies kept presenting itself. Finally, the day came when I was allowed to tell my best friend. Her reaction c...

Happy Spooky Season

Hello Everyone! I hope you are planning on using this Halloween to take a break from the chaos of life, especially if you are a fellow student reading this.  As requested let me outline what my halloween will be looking like 8am: wake up and make spooky breakfast for the apartment, we will be having cinnamon roll guts and you can find the recipe here .  8:30am Spooky breakfast with the ladies 9:30-2:30 Lets be real we all want this to be something fun but in actuality it will probably be homework. I have a very scary deadline of Sunday NoooOOOooon for an annotated bibliography and I need an idea for my Spanish research paper shortly after. We will also probably have left overs for lunch  3-5pm Hillel and the other religious clubs are hosting interfaith trick-or-treating, so that will be fun and a nice chance to see people I don't normally see.  5:30-6pm Foraging for dinner, in order to avoid the idiots! This Halloween we will be at home for most of the evening ...

I fought the dean and I won!

You know the song that goes "I fought the law and the law won ," well this week one of the deans emailed us about move out procedure.  It simply said that everyone is expected to move out on the 20th, which is our last day of classes. So I emailed her expressing my confusion on why we had to move out if there were still classes. We had a nice back in forth and I now have permission to move out of the 21st instead. I then posted in my class Facebook page letting them all know that you don't have to move out on the 20th if you have class.   And I am guessing that many students emailed her because we got this email today!  I know it is not a huge victory but in times of chaos even a small victory is a big win.  That's mostly it for now! I am almost done with midterms-just a Spanish essay left and a presentation next week. I am currently sitting in the library working on a source list and watching facilities clean up the fallen leaves.  I hope you are all...

JR 156: Midterms and life update

Hi there-I didn't see you! I appreciate your patience as midterm season is upon Skidmore College and I am dab smack in the middle of mine so this well be relatively short.  School is going well-just a little more work heavy than usual, but as always we make our way through it! I just finished second major project of the semester- a video analysis on the 2014 Hercules featuring the Rock, which I am relieved to have finished-we got assigned dates and I would have hated to be at the end of the semester.  In terms of Covid, I just got my weekly test back and it is negative and as for Skidmore on the whole we have two active cases, which if you missed it before can be found on this website.  I think that my only major update is that I was asked to sit on the Alumni Board as a student representative-I don't know much about what that entails for me but I'll let you know when I do! Other than that we are all enjoying the fall leaves, the cooler temperature(well mostly it i...
