Things you can't do in classes anymore and Happy New Year!
Hi!
My apologies for the delay in getting another post up @Madison. School is going well and I am in a fairly consistent routine, which after a month is very nice to have.
Since coming back to school there are some things I have noticed about classes during a pandemic. None of them are shocking revelations but figured I would share as some are comical.
During in person classes you can ...
- Not casually take a sip of water (you have to leave the classroom to have a drink)
- Not run your pen/pencil over your lips/chew on it (it was actually really funny to watch someone put there pen against the mask and try to chew on it, without realizing)
- Apologize for asking someone to repeat themselves more than three times because masks are hard to hear with.
- Be an active listener
- More easily ask for clarification
- Wipe down your desk upon arrival and upon leaving and apply sanitizer each time
- Not turn off your camera without being asked where you went
- Eat lots of snacks (and on Thursdays dinner) and drink lots of beverages from water to tea to hot chocolate
- Read your emails and texts (although you should put on do not disturb)
- Raise your hand to participate and no I don't mean physically raise your hand on zoom there is a function to raise your hand
- Take screenshots of slides
- Skip hand sanitizing because you are in your house or Wash your hands in the bathroom right next door.
- Feel left out when you hear people laughing or chatting down stairs.
If you have any other observations feel free to text me and I will add them here!
This weekend is Rosh Hashanah, so if you would benefit from hear it, I wish you a happy and sweet new year!
I will be spending much of the next 2 days working as a Health and Safety Coordinator for Hillel which will be nice to see people but kind of stressful because one "bad" move leads to Hillel being shut down for the year. However, I have faith in my community members to value the safety of others around them (well mostly).
I think that wraps up the main idea that I have for this post. Skidmore is still doing well, we have one new active case but they are isolated from the rest of the community-in part because of our regular and weekly testing and in part because we have to log our symptoms everyday.
With that I wish you all a peaceful weekend and invite you to check out the other features of this blog-I have tried to create new pages for a couple of more specific posts, such as my covid testing experiences
Lots of love and support,
me

💚
