JY 110: A review of my junior fall semester courses

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today marks the end of my first week back at school and I am really excited for the semester, although I am fairly thrown off by my schedule since I usually have my classes in the morning but this semester they are more in the evening. You can check out my schedule here if you are interested.

This semester I am taking 5 classes and auditing a 6th. I told a friend this recently and they looked at me like I was crazy to which I say I am only doing 17 credits but that is neither here nor there. Any way let's move on to the brief descriptions that I have done almost every semester thus far.

My Spanish class this semester is reading "real" books instead of short stories which is exciting but also quite daunting because if you don't understand one day its not like you can just put it behind you the next. Although I am excited for the continuity and getting to see real character development.

My art history course is entitled designing power and it is all about power displays in modern media from ads to clothing design. I think it will be very interesting and the professor is very engaging. We will also have an instagram account coming to document power in our every day lives and I will of course share it with you when I have it!

My classics course this semester is myth on film, which I am very excited for and has been very fun so far. Our second day of class we discussed a short film entitled Mythopolis and for homework we have to watch clash of the titans- so it is of course very serious.

The last multiple credit class I am taking is called reading and writing childhood. I am a little anxious because I do not have a lot of faith in my writing but our first meeting went really smoothly and she loved what I wrote during our class work.

Lastly I am taking a one credit course about Science and Science Fiction in Latin America. I think it will be very fun and am excited for it but there is also only 8 of us total including the professor.

I think that is it for now- I am sorry if you are disappointed by the lack of pictures and gifs. My plan is to post about once a week but don't stress if there is a delay

Stay safe and healthy, me
