No school

Do you remember being small and hearing that there was a snow day?
The excitement that you felt and how free you were to do whatever you wanted (as long as you had your mom's permission).

I had that feeling for about a day when I heard that Skidmore was going to be closed the week after break. I was going to be live this sloth, just lazing about, eating snacks, a simple life.

However that feeling faded quickly into concern as all of my friends' schools started shutting down and moving to virtual classes. What was I going to do about all of my friends, classes, and extracurricular projects that I had taken on?

This feeling continued for a bit until we got the email today sharing that we will be moving to online classes and that I need to move out on Wednesday.

To be honest, I am conflicted. I am sure that this is the best decision and will reduce the rate of transmission, however, there is a lot that I have at school that I do not have at home. I think that classes will suffer a professors struggle to make the technology work and that Skidmore may loose one of my favorite qualities the interpersonal communication between professor and students, intermingling of students, club life.

I will keep you all updated as I get more information but luckily enough I will be able to FaceTime with more of you!

  1. You're in very good company as schools around the country are adopting extraordinary measures to prevent spread of the Covid-19 virus. Online lessons can work for some subjects (pretty tough for dance)and I think everyone is working with a sense of uncharted territory. Be safe. Stay well. This will also pass.
