Commitments
As I started making my schedule for next semester and considering the different leadership choices I could take, I reflected on the word "commitment. "
Everyday we make commitments both small ones and larger ones but how much of our time goes towards these everyday. So one thing I did for your enjoyment is embed a sheet I made of theoretically all of my academic and social commitments. This is what my base schedule looks like every week before I add in fitness, homework, meetings and anything else that un-surprisingly comes up during the week.
Although somedays look chaotic and I know that they are, I prefer the chaos to the unstructured aimless ramblings of some of my peers.
Yet there is also the time that we don't realize that we are giving away and its one that we forget about regularly-the small computers and devices in our pockets, on our wrists, and in our ears. Thats right the tech that makes our lives easier is also the biggest time-suck.
According to my phone I pick it up roughly 58 times a day and spend roughly 3 hours and 20 minutes with the screen(yet while writing this blog it has gone 4 minutes) on daily. This weekend I was on a Hillel retreat which was an unplugged event and I felt so at ease and relaxed by not having it. As I write this, I realize that I don't have a point but as I say when I lead meditations "there isn't any judgment just a noticing."
Any way I hope you all have a productive weekend and you give attention to the commitments you make and the time that seems to slip away!

I think you do have a point and its well taken. Tech can be wonderful and can connect people in ways not previously possible. I love seeing, with the click of a button, your face, getting to talk to you that way. At the same time, without realizing it, hours are lost - hours that could be spent really connecting with people, trying new things. Good for you, recognizing it and responding.
