Dear ___________,
Dear (INSERT NAME HERE),
I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner-its been over a month since I last wrote and for this I do apologize. I promise its not you its me and life gets in the way. I hope you've been doing well based on all of your posts it seems like you are thriving at/in (INSERT WHERE YOU ARE LIVING)!
I am doing very well! I am happy and eager to be on campus this fall. Now the question I keep asking myself is what have I failed to share in this void that I should catch you up to speed on? I fear that it may be a lot, but I will try to do my best to catch you up to speed.
Academically I am taking 18 credits between 6 classes this semester, but I feel relatively well balanced. In case you forgot I am a peer mentor, so I sit in on a Scribner Seminar and attend a training course once a week. The seminar I sit in on is titled Mythconceptions and it studies ancient mythology and draws comparisons and conclusions from the Marvel Cinematic universe. After that class, I go to my latin class. It is a 300 level course so it has definitely been challenging me but I have enjoyed the work involved as we are reading the Cena Trimalchionis; although, the paper has been stressing me out a smidgin. Next up is my philosophy class which is essentially about the philosophy behind arguments. It makes my brain hurt a little but I am learning a lot. I am also in a international/comparative politics class and to be entirely honest this is the one class that if I was going to drop a course I would. Most of the time I don't find the information interesting and that makes it hard to focus/study when it is time to. Lastly, I have Spanish. The professor is a kooky woman but it has definitely helped my language as she teaches grammar in a way that finally makes it click.
Socially I have made a couple of new friends and strengthened some friendships from last year which is a lot of fun. It has been interesting watching my first years try to make friends-people should really talk more about how hard it can be to meet new people. This year I am the secretary of Hillel, which has been fun over all but I'm not sure that I would do it again(our executive board does not have a great dynamic). I am also a member of Random Acts of Crafts, Anthropology club and of course SGA. Within SGA this year, I am a sophomore class senator and elections commissioner. The latter has gone through waves of being a lot of work to being a small to medium amount but it was nice to be in a leadership position without it being a significantly larger time commitment.
Hmm I guess I didn't need to be afraid that wasn't as much as I thought it would be-SCORE! Let me think if there is anything else.... Oh yes there is one last thing- I was recently hired by ORSL to lead meditations which is really cool! Every Friday at 4:00-4:20 I am in the Intercultural center leading meditation.
well (INSERT NAME HERE), I hope that wasn't too much for you to read. I'll try to get back on the regular with posting but maybe it'll be every other week and it certainly won't be daily.
Best wishes
Your obedient servant
Me
PS. I think you should know that I started but then abandoned 4 different posts between the last one and this one.
PPS If you haven't checked out the musical Six!, you better get on it!
