Looking good

Today has been a good day

I had some really nice conversations with some people from Hillel last night. They sent me some cookies as a thank you and the notes inside where really cute.

Spanish went well. My team lost our debate but by .3 of a point so I am not disappointed.

Then I had lunch with some Londoners that I hadn't seen in a while which was nice.

After that I went and saw Professor Curley (my classics professor) about my essay and he helped me find  the main idea that I couldn't quite put my finger on. We then just had a nice conversation about how I was a London freshman. He asked if this class was turning me off from classics and I said not at all and he told me that he would be happy to sit down with me in the next few months and plan out the rest of my time to major in classics.

After that I had English. She asked if she could use an essay that I wrote as an example for the whole class. In my mind I was like HELL YEAH!!!!!! but I instead told her that I would be fine with that. and then she praised the work I had done on our most recent exercise. I will put it up when I have finished typing it. It is meant to be an intro and conclusion of a paper.

            There is a princess locked in a tower. WAIT … Why did she get locked there? A knight in shining armor goes to rescue her. WAIT … Why is a ‘HE’ rescuing a ‘HER’? We all know how this story goes. He will yell up to his fair maiden and she will throw down her golden locks. But why is this the epitome of every fairytale?

            Every book that a child reads and movie that a child sees will affect how they experience the world around them. These children are our next generation of leaders. Do we want them growing up believing that girls need rescuing and that boys should have some sort of toxic masculinity? I don’t. I want to see equality between genders and girls empowered to solve problems. So I ask you how do we start the revolution?}

I lost the game! and other fun traditions

One day last week, or maybe it was the week before, was national wear your camp t-shirt day-of which no one (at school) that I know participated. However there is no need to fret because yours truly-super counselor extraordinaire remembered and wore her staff shirt from last summer. This combined with the Hillel retreat where we sang a lot of the end of session songs and an email encouraging us to apply for summer 2020, reminded me of all the little traditions from camp that I wish took place more in my daily life. For my camp friends reading this I hope it doesn't make you too nostalgic, and for everyone else maybe this a way to bring a little bit of fun to the office or maybe the holidays. The pineapple game When you are out with a group of people the first one to point to the pineapple and say I win. Wins. Yep- that's the whole game. I do highly recommend it for group shopping trips as it brings a sense of adventure to what can be a drab day at the mall. Invisible ...

Less Busy

Yesterday I got up and worked on some papers and then around 11 decided to make up my mind for the day. I had a kind bar and hit the road. I went to the Barbican, Postman's Park, and Postal museum The Barbican is a really unique building because it has plants overall the windows. The Postman's Park is much smaller than many parks that I have been to but that there are some titles that describe heroic events live saving children from a fire. Finally the Postal museum was incredible. I didn't think that I would enjoy it nearly as much as I did. Also at the museum, you can ride the mail rail, which is the old mail cart which would run under the city. Overall I had a great time and I was able to walk most of these so I saw many new parts of the city. Today I leave for Derby today to visit a camp friend. Don't expect any more posts until Sunday Morning. Have a Great Weekend!

Meal Prep and a Movie

This will be brief because I am going to watch a movie with some friends. Today I got up and read in bed for a bit. I then got up and worked out before going foodshopping. I got stuff for the week and also to make Nutella brownies with. They were pretty good, a little gooey but that didn't stop anyone. I then proofread a paper and did more research for AA overall it was a really chill day.
