Build-A-Bear

So today Kayleigh and I went to Liberty and Build-A-Bear. It was so much fun! I got some bunting for Skidmore and then we went to Build-a-Bear. Kaleigh and I got matching bears. It was really cute how into the process our assistant was. Kaliegh named hers Teddy and Mine is named Felix. After I got back Mommy and I talked for an hour and then I had some lunch and did some work. Then I talked with Nicole and had dinner. Then I talked with Bot! Now I am getting ready for bed because I have to get up early-is to meet with my group. Goodnight everybody Olivia

Lasts

So today marks the official end of all of my classes in London. I have a closing symposium and two finals but then I am coming home. 10 days and counting and that is crazy pants to me. So let me tell you about some of these lasts. Etap : we handed in our papers and then went to Leather Lane. Once we were there we had to the option to buy lunch but it was only 11:40 so I purchased raspberries and then Ged bought us all drinks (non-alcoholic) and we just sat and chatted. Imagined:  we had real work to do in class today but that was made up because we all went over to her flat (it is very very nice) and had some snacks and chatted. it was really nice and I had a great time. Theater : we spent 2 whole hours discussing our final, which was quite boring. The bigger thing for me is realizing that I may never see some of these professors again. I am now going to do some work while I wait on laundry and then go to bed because I am so tired.

Tuesday

Today for imagined we went on a walking tour but it was so cold and it started raining. The content was pretty interesting but I didn't enjoy it as much. Theater was fine but we really only talked about half of what we were supposed to and everyone is super anxious about this final. Then we came back and it was dumping buckets. Then my symposium group met up to get some work done and we have a really good idea but a lot of work to do in not a lot of time. that's all because I am going to bed Olivia

Stressed but not too much

So I am nearing the end at a rapid pace. Today I had my Imagined Paper due and Wednesday my etap final is due. I feel better now that imagined is done because my Etap piece is in ok shape. However one of my group members for my imagined final is not responding and may not even be in the country right now-so that is. bit stressful. Right now I'm just waiting for Elizabeth to get back because we are going to make grilled cheese Sammies for dinner with smiley fries because that is fun. Update: We made the grilled cheese with tomato and it was so so so good. I really didn't know how much a good grilled cheese can shape a day. Now I am going to Rea the witches by Roald Dahl and go to bed

Let's catch up

So as you can see I did not post last night and that is because I got home a little after 11 pm. The Inheritance was incredible. I have not cried so much at a play since I saw Daniel Radcliffe in Criple of Inishman. So thank you so so so much randy! Today I got up and got to work. I edited my imagined paper so much that I have over 4 different drafts. I finished it around 7. I may look at it tomorrow but most likely I will just send it to BB and print it because I am so so done with the paper. I sat and talked with Kayleigh for a bit while doing work which was really nice. We may go get manicures next weekend but we will see. Also today I went out for lunch ( I know some of you will judge me for this but at least it is not McDonalds- I went to 5 guys) because I needed a break from chapter and didn't really want to go food shopping. What else... I submitted my job application for Favorite today! Most of last years staff won't be coming back but who knows. I think th...

Work

I did so much work yesterday like 7 pages of writing. I am still kind of stressed because I have so much editing to do. but I am not really going to think about that today because I am seeing the inheritance! Last night after I finished writing and ate, Heidi and I watched when Harry met Sally. It was so funny! Thats all for now. I will write again tonight if I am not too exhausted! Lots of love

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you all had a spectacular time celebrating with those you care about. Here in London we celebrated with a nice lunch (think a roper English roast but with Turkey and Beef and Ham). It was nice to chat but it didn't really feel a lot like thanksgiving. It is now (black) Friday. A fair amount of people are shopping today because it is a thing here. I however am at senate house library and today I am going to get so much work done it will blow your mind. Whatever you all end up doing today. make sure it is fun and safe. Olivia

last workday

Today is my last day of class for the week but I still have a lot I need to do. Next Monday I have my next paper due and then a second paper due on Wednesday. This last bit of time is flying by so much faster than I was anticipating. Tomorrow I have a thanksgiving lunch but that is it. Today I also have a field trip and it is supposed to be pretty good and very interactive. Then I have my last lecture in AA. We also are going to have a potluck tonight and I made Nutella brownies. Heading off now because it takes a bit to get to my field trip site. Have a great Wednesday me

Disqualified

Today was pretty good overall. Nothing special happened and I got a lot of work done. In etap we have had an ongoing competition for best presentation and Heidi accidentally got us disqualified. Oh well but a little sas because we probably would have won. Goodnight everybody

The one with Jonathan

Sorry I haven't posted but Jonathan and I have been super duper busy! Saturday/HP day first things first we went food shopping so now I have food for the week (yay!) Then we went for a walk and I showed him my school and the park I hang out in. After that we made our way to find some food. Unfortunately the Yorkshire burrito place wasn't open so instead we got some delicious bangers and mash. It is called mothers mash and it was so good! Next we made our way to Euston station and got on a train to Leavesden (AKA Harry Potter STUDIO TOUR). We got there and got our Ticket packs and started the tour. Not much as changed since I went last but I was still fan-girling so hard. Then we had dinner and finished the tour before seeing Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald in the cinema. I thought it was pretty good and disagree that it is the worst movie; however it definitely was a bridge movie in-between the first and the third.  Sunday/Oxford Today we got up and met at M...

Temples, Tea, and Jonathan

So today I got up quite early with Heidi because we had a field trip. We travelled for about an hour and then walked for another 30 minutes to go to a Hindu Temple. It was super cool and almost all of the building is made of natural materials (limestone and marble). We also got to witness one of the daily ceremonies. It was simple but it was clear how it effects the practicers day. After that trip, I came back with a group and had a bit to eat before afternoon tea. At or tea we had of course tea as well as biscuits, finger sandwiches, and desserts. Also we had some nice conversations about kind of everything. Then Elizabeth and Jay and I walked around Oxford circus for a bit to see some of the Christmas lights. We also wandered into the Disney store and Zara. It was a fun time but after 45 minutes I ditched them to meet up with Jonathan. We met by 9 nd 3/4   great meeting spot. Then we went to Honest Burgers for dinner . It was pretty good nd it ws so great to sees him. Th...

So tired...

OK this will be super duper brief because it is almost 11 pm. Imagined was good. we had a really nice discussion and I had a minor epiphany about my paper. I am feeling so good about it but I have a lot of work to do. Theater was a bit of a drag because I really can't wrap my head around the current concepts Alumni event was really interesting but I only got to be there for 45 minutes before the show. The show was interesting but super long. I got back 10 minutes ago. Now I am going to bed because I have to get up so early. Also Jonathan comes in tomorrow Lots of Love Me

IT IS DONE

IT IS OFFICIAL I AM REGISTERED FOR MY SECOND SEMESTER OF COLLEGE. I am so much less stressed because this is done. All that is left now is to get down to business and finish the work ahead of me. Also tomorrow is the start of 24 days before I return to the states-which is crazy pants. that is all. Have a fantastic day!

In an hour and five minutes...

Hi Folks, Right now I am at senate house library with Heidi. Just doing some work and killing the remaining hour and change until I register for the spring semester! How CRAZY is that. In 90 minutes I will know what classes I am taking in the spring of my second semester of college. JUST WOW! Any way here is what has happened so far in my day. I had Etap this morning and was able to talk with Ged about my paper. I am still anxious about it but on the whole I feel better. I also learned that Ged's proper name is Gerald and that really left me shook. Then I went for a walk to the National Portrait gallery where I met up with my AA class. What I think is really cool right now is we are finally seeing the artists we learned so much about in the class room. Some of the pieces lived up to my expectations whereas some of them were kind of let downs. Then one girl almost passed out so that was super scary and also caused class to end over an hour early.  She is doing better now but ...

Cold again

Sad news I think I may be getting a cold again :( but other than that it has been a pretty solid day. Got up went to imagined then went to barbaras office hours and was almost late to theater. I shared with her my ideas for our next paper and my favorite is her favorite. She also jokingly said I could sell my other paper topics but that made me feel so good because it means all of my ideas were actually really strong! Theater was solid today. We discussed the show and the realism and how it was portrayed. I found it less confusing today than last week, which is good. I then game back and had dinner and did some more research for Etap and started my imagined outline. And that is it. goodnight everybody

no morning class and a presentation

This morning I didn't have Etap, so I went to the library to do final edits on a presentation and some research. I was really productive which was good but on the research front I think I am even more confused than before. Then I went and got lunch and headed to IES to print my paper and then eventually for class. In AA, I gave my presentation (it has animations in it) and I am pretty sure that I got an A and that mine was the best presented presentation today. Thanks 4h and theater for my public speaking skills. The rest of class then flew by which was nice.  On my walk back I picked up groceries and then made dinner. now I am in my room getting ahead for some reading this week and then probs going to go to bed in an hour or so. Hope you all had a great Veterans Day and thanked someone for their service. Also it has now been more than 100 years since the end of World War One.

Treat Yo Self Weekend

Image
This weekend I decided to Treat myself. This idea is to indulge more than you do normally. It was kind of brought into the spotlight by the tv show Parks and Rec . So let me tell you how I treated myself.  Saturday I got up early and headed to Bath. Upon arrival I went to the "roman" baths. This site is really neat because the ruins are almost entirely intact. After that I went to the spa. I spent 2 hours in the different baths and steam rooms. The Steam rooms were originally hard to breath in because the pressure was just so different. I felt incredible after leaving though.  After the baths I wandered in and out of some stores until I made it to the royal crescent. The first architectural structure in the UK to have such a prominent curve. However there was an even bigger one near this tree and it formed almost a full circle. After that I went to the fashion museum and saw this great exhibition. It showed how fashion has changed through the centuries. Attached are so...

Height of the storm and day kind of norm

today was a fairly normal day. nothing super unusual occurred. I had my advising meeting with Barbara and unless my courses fill up am in pretty good shape for next semester. Then my "a" key stopped working again so I messaged apple and they told me to update my software, which I thought I had done, and that took close to an hour and a half (uggh). Then Sylvia changed my screen to this really cool design so that is good. Imagined was fine we finished discussing Mrs. Dalloway  today and I am conflicted about it. I really truly hated it in the beginning but it started to grow on me towards the end. I then had lunch with a whole group and decided that I am not going to stress about course recommendations any more until Monday evening because there is absolutely nothing I can do until I see how courses fill up. I think it is a good decision but we will see. Theater made my brain hurt. We were discussing realism and naturalism, which are basically the same thing. Also our...

Weird Wednesday

First things first. JAMIE WAS INCREDIBLE! Everything from the score to the acting was really truly moving. So today I got up and went for a walk and did my typical morning things. Then went to Etap. in class today we watched a movie called 4 lions which was really odd but there were some really entertaining parts. I bought cookies for the class and that was a big hit. In art we had a field trip to the Tate Britain. It was cool. I got to see a lot of turner and pre-raephalite pieces. Then I went back to IES for our study break. The pizza was good (but I may have just been really hungry) and the Skype call was a little useless. It covered registration information but because we are having conferences about our schedules this week the information came a little late. Most of us already knew all the information (so it was a bit of a waste of time). Oh well. Now I am typing this and then am going to read before bed. I hope you all voted yesterday me

Jamie tonight

Hi folks, I am posting now because I have to leave shortly to go see a show (everyone's talking about Jamie). In imagined we went to the Dennis Severs house and got lunch out as a group (tbh I wasn't really a fan of the house it was a little creepy). Lunch was at spitalfields and we did group presentations while eating. I then wandered around the market a little and then headed back to IES. Theater was interesting it was a little difficult to discuss the show because of the politics around it. The show we saw last week was ear for eye. Also I got my midterm essay back and I got an A-. I was really worried I didn't score well because he spent so so long talking about how there were some good things in-between the bad. Just had dinner and am typing this and then am headed out again.

Monday

Today was a typical day, I went to the library this am to take a Spanish placement exam and do some work. Then I went to IES for Etap. The class was fine-nothing special happened. Then I sat with a bunch of people during lunch and I got to steal some chips because a bunch of people had gotten fish and chips! Then in AA we had a bunch of presentations some people did a very good job others were a little less good. Also I got an A on my midterm! Woot Woot! Then on my way home I did some food shopping and got a package in the mail. It is the one I posted about before. However I learned that it is from Grandpa Bob and it was a guy Fawkes mask because it is Guy Fawkes Night. I wore it into the kitchen and freaked Heidi out so that was kind of funny. That is all Rick hung out in our room for a bit which was a time full of laughs. I think that is all for now. Have a good day and week.

Jack in the Box more like Mask in a box

Hi Folks, I just received a package sent to me via amazon. This was what was inside...  I am quite confused on who sent it and why as it came without a note. If you know or it was you please contact me through email, fb message, WhatsApp or really any social media. Olivia

Teabus

Today I didn't do much because I got up to only get back in bed and do some reading. I also learned at that my brand new cousin has made his arrival into the world. So welcome August Geisert-Klein.  After having a late ish breakfast and showered.  Next I met Elizabeth  and we went to the Victoria Coach Station to catch our Tea Bus. We almost missed it, which was super stressful because we each paid almost 60 quid for. Fortunately we made it! We also got a free upgrade to the top tier of the bus. It was a great experience we got unlimited drinks(non alcoholic ) and a whole set of finger sandwiches and tea cakes. Then half way through we got biscuits and jam. Also we got to keep the mugs, which are super duper cute.  The tour was 90 minutes to most of London's Iconic sites, with audio to give us insight (though we didn't need it). Also the music choice was excellent think mid 2000 radio mix.   Then I hung out with her and Libby in their kitchen for a ...

Big Day Saturday

Image
So Today I did a lot (as in 17k steps a lot)!  I got up and started my day. Crystal Palace Dinosaurs  it took me an hour and a half to get there but it was definitely worth it. The dinosaur are based on skeletons found by the victorians but lacking significant scientific knowledge. Thanks Jen and Noel for this tip! Horniman's Museum and Gardens  This was a fun stop. I had a crepe at the farmers market and then explored the museum and the gardens.  Next I went to Greenwich I saw the prime meridian (so I now have been to both 00's) and some nature, and a house/manor gifted to queen Anne Boleyn.   Riverboat  I took the riverboat down the Thames. It was a little expensive but an interesting experience. Also on the way I bought caramelized nuts and a poem. The guy wrote the poem on a type writer.  Wand Walkway  SO this is a temporary display in order to benefit her foundation Lumos, they had staff sharing inf...

Field Trip Friday

So Today I had a field trip at 6pm. So I got up and went to senate house and did a lot of work and am now ahead for next week! It was great and now I don't have to worry about doing work the rest of the weekend. I then got back around 3 and hung out with Heidi and Rick before heading to the National Gallery. The trip was a lot shorter than I was expecting it to be because we only saw 3 rooms of the whole gallery. I then went back with Elizabeth and sat in the kitchen with Rick and Heidi for close to 2 hours. Now I am really tired and am going to bed. Hope you all had a good day

Terrific Thursday

To day was a pretty good day overall. I had my one on one with Barbara about my paper and you will never guess what I got on it... an A-! this is the best I have done on an English essay since beginning of junior year. I was so pumped and all of my feedback was really good as well. Then I had class and I again asked a question that stumped Barbara. I think I am starting to like Dalloway, which is good because I am going to have to write a paper on it. We are finishing it next week and then starting our last book. Then I had lunch with everyone in the student lounge, which is code for absolutely nothing productive got done. Oh well I have this weekend. Then we had theater. The reading for today made my head hurt but then the discussion was actually really interesting and I took a lot away from it or at least I think I did. we didn't have a break so we got out 10 minutes early. I decided to walk to the theater which was about an hour away. It was a pleasant walk and I got t...
