The Jungle
So yesterday, I had imagined and theater.
I found both quite interesting yesterday but what I really want to discuss is The Jungle.
This play was incredible and I will forever recommend I, unfortunately it closes on November 3rd, but I hope it goes on tour. The stage has been deconstructed and proscenium arch is hidden and together there is a sense of being in a tent with a restaurant inside. For more money you can sit in the restaurant but we were up in the dress circle. All of the acting was incredible and I almost lost it when the narrator finally goes. Wait I never explained the plot (sorry). The jungle is a refugee camp in Calais France. In this camp there are refugees from around the world and they tell there stories, struggle to get along and eventually stand united against the French who want to bulldoze the camp. Then to make the point about young children being abandoned they have this little girl, Amal, and she kind of dances around and then bonds with a couple of the British volunteers and won't separate from them (and she wears pink crocs). Overall I agree with the professional reviews this show is 5 stars out of 5 and is the commentary we need right now.
