A Full Day in Rome 10/12/18
10/12/18
So this morning I got up and was out of the hostel by 8:30 AM. I then walked to Vatican to pick up my pass which gets me into a lot of places for free or a significant discount. I went to the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel. Both are totally incredible but I had no idea what to look at when I was in the chapel-everything is so intricate. The amount of detail was just stunning. After I got out of there I went to a random restaurant and then ate some pizza and did some street watching. I went to the Spanish steps and then the Trevi Fountain and had some amazing gelato. Fun facts about the Fountain: it was one of the original sources of water in Roman Times, it is made of the same material as the Colosseum, it is a charitable foundation (around 3,000 euros are thrown in everyday- I ‘donated’ 20 euro coins). Then I wandered around some streets before feeling to exhausted to do anything. I got on the hop on hop off bus and just road it around. They ended up at Roma Termini and then told us that it was not going where I wanted to go so I got off. A guy then started talking to me about America and why I was here. He was from Africa and he gave me a bracelet from his homeland. He then tried to convince me to go get drinks but I told him I was meeting someone and couldn’t. Then I got back on the bus and headed towards the Colosseum to meet James (Nat’s Friend) it was really nice he bought me gelato and we jus sat and talked. This rando was like I’m from lion king and then patted a man’s belly. I then walked back.
In total today I was out and about for just under 12 hours, saw many big sites, walked around 27,660 steps= to 12ish miles.
Think that is all for today.
