What'd I miss...

Saturday 
On Saturday, all of us went to Cambridge on a group trip. It takes close to 2 hours on a bus to get there. 
We arrived and then went on walking tour of the city followed by punting and then 3 free hours in the city. During that time, I saw and learned a LOT. 
FUN FACTS 
  • The Pub named the Anchor is where some of the first discussions about the double helix structure took place. 
  • Cambridge wears light blue and Oxford dark and yes there is a huge rivalry between them.
    • this rivalry includes sporting competitions, the most important of which being crew and which goat can run the fastest. Turns out it is Cambridge for both!
  • The church of kings college can hold 1000+ people but was built for 100. 
    • also the stained glass windows are the best of the age because they are the only ones that survived World War 2 but it was a giant puzzle to put it all back together. Because of that it is on of the few that features Mary looking old and tired and that is because it is actually her mother's face. 
  • Corpus Clock
    • this clock is incredible! it is made of steel then gold on top and is 90% mechanical and 10%computer. It gets off of time very easily. the creature on stop is a time snatcher
  • Punting is essentially the English version of a gondola














Saturday evening, so it turns out I definitely have some motion sickness on buses. Anyway we got back around 6 and then I met up with mommy. We went to Tesco's and she bought all the grocery's for the week (Thanks Mom!) and then we went for dinner. After dinner we parted ways (only until December but that still feels long away).

Sunday (AKA today)
This morning I slept until 9:15 which was a beautiful thing. I then got up and ate and then headed to the Globe for our second field trip. It was very went and cold throughout that entire tour :( because the globe has a really unique history. After the globe I went to the exhibition very briefly and then went back with Libby and Jay. 


I came back and did a lot of homework and now am feeling better for this upcoming week!
Then around 7ish I distributed the digestives that mommy bought for everyone- they were a big hit and really made some people's day. I also worked on my travel plans some more and I am meeting up with a whole squad in Florence for 4 days or so!

More to come but now I am going to lay in bed.

I lost the game! and other fun traditions

One day last week, or maybe it was the week before, was national wear your camp t-shirt day-of which no one (at school) that I know participated. However there is no need to fret because yours truly-super counselor extraordinaire remembered and wore her staff shirt from last summer. This combined with the Hillel retreat where we sang a lot of the end of session songs and an email encouraging us to apply for summer 2020, reminded me of all the little traditions from camp that I wish took place more in my daily life. For my camp friends reading this I hope it doesn't make you too nostalgic, and for everyone else maybe this a way to bring a little bit of fun to the office or maybe the holidays. The pineapple game When you are out with a group of people the first one to point to the pineapple and say I win. Wins. Yep- that's the whole game. I do highly recommend it for group shopping trips as it brings a sense of adventure to what can be a drab day at the mall. Invisible ...

Less Busy

Yesterday I got up and worked on some papers and then around 11 decided to make up my mind for the day. I had a kind bar and hit the road. I went to the Barbican, Postman's Park, and Postal museum The Barbican is a really unique building because it has plants overall the windows. The Postman's Park is much smaller than many parks that I have been to but that there are some titles that describe heroic events live saving children from a fire. Finally the Postal museum was incredible. I didn't think that I would enjoy it nearly as much as I did. Also at the museum, you can ride the mail rail, which is the old mail cart which would run under the city. Overall I had a great time and I was able to walk most of these so I saw many new parts of the city. Today I leave for Derby today to visit a camp friend. Don't expect any more posts until Sunday Morning. Have a Great Weekend!

Meal Prep and a Movie

This will be brief because I am going to watch a movie with some friends. Today I got up and read in bed for a bit. I then got up and worked out before going foodshopping. I got stuff for the week and also to make Nutella brownies with. They were pretty good, a little gooey but that didn't stop anyone. I then proofread a paper and did more research for AA overall it was a really chill day.
