Saturday and Sunday

I just realized that I never posted yesterday so here I go. Yesterday I got up and Heidi and I went on a quest to find the right book and go shopping. We were unsuccessful on the book front (my copy should be here Monday) but ended up at Primark where we were successful. I bought a fuzzy blanket (which  is low-key 8 feet by 8 feet) and Heidi bought warmer pjs and slippers. Then we came back and listened to the audio book for our seminar and then got ready for our show. We left for Wiltons music hall and had a 15 minute buffer but hit so much traffic that we ended up being 15 minutes late. As you can imagine that was not great for my anxiety; however, Barbara was super chill about it and told me how she was almost late as well because of the traffic and a bad uber driver. Sketching was really something unique. It is 24 hours in London written by 8 different playwrights. It reminded me quite a bit of The dinning room  by A.R. Gurney. Then when I got back, Nicole and I ta...

Studious Friday.

Today I woke up on time and then headed over to Senate House Library and then did all of the work. Things that I accomplished today! Made a to-do list  Responded to emails  Decided which AA prompt to do  Got 78% of the way through my Etap Midterm Hit the minimum length for my imagined paper but still have around 3 more big things to talk about.  Went to office hours for my professor about the paper above. (she told me not to tell anyone about where I am in my essay) Got a student Oyster card.  Edited my Understanding Paper I think that is everything but who knows. Currently jamming in the kitchen with Franca, Leanne, and Heidi. I just had a really good dinner but have no idea what I am doing the rest of the night.

Matilda again

So last night, I saw Matilda. It was really good and has made me miss musicals and also penny. The cast we saw last night it was their first performance! all of the kids did such an amazing job. More later because I am doing a boatload of work so I don't have to do it next week!

Ice Cream and Matilda

Quick Fun Update: I am currently in the cinema room watching Matilda instead of reading the book #phoningitin. Also we had a study break which featured ice cream-so it was an ice-cream sundae bar and I brought mine to the movie. Hope you all have the best rest of your day !

Brixton and Free Food Wednesday.

Image
So Today for Etap we went to Brixton, which is where a majority of the wind rush generation settled when they came to London. It was really neat to see all of the culture and try some of the different foods. I may try to go back because there were so many fabric stores that I had to walk by without looking at. Then I worked my way back with Cali, Eddy and Maya. It was a nice experience but did feel a little rushed at times. Next was AA and we talked about the women of the Pre Raphaelite movement. It makes me sad that so many of these women are almost completely forgotten about in history. Heidi and I then walked back to chapter and then came up to the room. we later went down to get free pizza which they ran out of. What a disappointment! I then talked to daddy and am now working on my papers before the study break and Matilda movie night. Other news This morning Heidi's shower set off the fire alarm, which then went on for 8 minutes.

A not so Terrible Tuesday

Image
Normally I am very agitated on Tuesdays because they are the worse. Today was not that bad in fact it was a pretty good day. I got to sleep in a bit this morning and then meet Barbara out near Tower Hill for our Jack the Ripper tour. I was not a huge fan because I didn't see why it was important to our curriculum. It was led by the Jack expert though (meet Donald Rumbelow). He felt very rushed because we only had an hour but oh well. After that I went back to IES to print my theater review and do some work during lunch. Surprisingly nothing really productive got done during that time. Next I walked to Monticello House for theater. Today's class was fine but the presenters in my opinion spun a really light and fun comedy into a depressing tale of sexism and racism. I think they tried to make more of the show than there actually was but it raised an interesting topic of "as seen theater"- which I will talk more about later because it is late here. Understandin...

Monday

Today was an average Monday, made only slightly worse because mommy is back in the states ;(. I woke up and went on a walk. Then came back, showered, and did some work before breakfast. Momo and I messaged for a little bit this morning and then during class he left me a really sweet message inviting me to his 19th birthday party! Unfortunately I can't go to that but he and I are going to meet up one weekend! Etap was good we discussed Britain today and BREXIT a lot. It is really funny seeing every teacher's reaction to it because Ged has the most dramatic. We also got our midterm assessments back and I got an A-. I am really excited because this is my first real college grade! Then during lunch I read parts of Great expectations for my paper. I think my paper is going to be really good  but I am slightly stressed about getting it done in time. Then AA. Today we learned about the Pre- Raphaelite Brotherhood. It is really interesting but also seems highly sketchy. I wasn...

What'd I miss...

Saturday  On Saturday, all of us went to Cambridge on a group trip. It takes close to 2 hours on a bus to get there.  We arrived and then went on walking tour of the city followed by punting and then 3 free hours in the city. During that time, I saw and learned a LOT.  FUN FACTS  The Pub named the Anchor is where some of the first discussions about the double helix structure took place.  Cambridge wears light blue and Oxford dark and yes there is a huge rivalry between them. this rivalry includes sporting competitions, the most important of which being crew and which goat can run the fastest. Turns out it is Cambridge for both! The church of kings college can hold 1000+ people but was built for 100.  also the stained glass windows are the best of the age because they are the only ones that survived World War 2 but it was a giant puzzle to put it all back together. Because of that it is on of the few that features Mary looking old and tired an...

Today was an amazing day and here is why...

Today I spent the entire day with Mommy! I woke up this morning and had a quick breakfast, then popped on a tube over to Portobello. It then took us a few minutes to meet up but then we wandered up and down the market. We saw so many cool things, like military jumpsuits and so many scarves. We ended up getting a couple of scarves-I have 2 and mommy has one that has sheep on it. We also stopped at this stamp stand and mommy bought some stamp holders and the letters L, O, V, and E. I am sure it will be LOVEly. We then popped by her hotel which is smaller than my dorm. After feeling a bit snug, we quickly went back out again and took the tube back to Chapter. I gave her a tour and she took so many pictures of my dorms and it made me feel so loved. We then stopped at a pizza place for lunch before walking over to IES, so she could experience A day in the life of me . After that we did the brief walk to senate house library. Next we walked over to the London Eye and boy was that an ...

Yom Kippur and the Cookie Party

Image
So yesterday a group of us decided to fast today for Yom Kippur. I needed up being the only one who made it through the entire day. So go me-I guess. I really don't have any good reason for why I decided to fast but I did. Any way at study break all we had was tiny bagels and I was so disappointed-so I went out and bought cookies and chocolate from Sainsbury's and all the Skiddos on the floor (Mark, Michael, Rick, Heidi and myself) had a great dessert party. It was nice we also made fun of one of the people running for Class President back at Skidmore. Any way today I had Etap, which was average but it was quite nice to hand in my paper and have it over with! Then I walked down along Oxford street to the meeting place for our AA field trip. We went to the Wallace Collection and it was quite cool! I saw the Swing and a bunch of other recognizable pieces. I then meandered my way back and did some homework before the study break. one other IMPORTANT NOTICE  chapter changed...

The one with the Othello presentation

Today, I woke up and went for a walk before showering and getting ready for the day. I had some scrambled eggs and carrots from breakfast-it was so good. I then left and walked 3 miles to a fabric store. I bought around 12 pound worth of materials- I think that I am going to make a Union Jack Pillow case! I will post a picture when it is done ( I may start it tomorrow). I then had Imagined where we caught up because we hadn't had class since last Tuesday. Our discussion was so varied today and was a little hard to follow at some points. After Class, I had lunch in the park with Lizzy. We ate, read and dog watched. Next was theater. I gave my presentation with Lily on Othello. We did a really good job but it was a little disheartening seeing people doze on and off during it. After that we had an interesting discussion on how to classify this show. I walked with Lily back to IES for understanding Britain. Today was more of a history based class, which was a little boring bec...

A good day and an impulse decision

So today was overall a really good day, I went for a walk and then worked out before class. Next I ate and packed up for the day. I got to IES early so that I could print some things but Moodle was being a massive pain and it would not let me log in at all (this was resolved at lunch but I needed it in the morning). Ethnic Tapestry was good. Everyone has been freaking out about their papers but I finished final edits on mine and am printing it tomorrow-Woot!Woot!. We also had our first presentation in that class and it was not great both in length and presentation skills; however it got an A- so I am not too worried about this class anymore. Next was my lunch break and during this time I ate, naturally, and also had a meeting with Lucinda to discuss my AA project. She gave some good advice and I will definitely go back and talk to her again about this same project. Next was AA and we had a field trip today to the British Museum. It is a huge museum and I hope that we discuss it ...

Meal Prep and a Movie

This will be brief because I am going to watch a movie with some friends. Today I got up and read in bed for a bit. I then got up and worked out before going foodshopping. I got stuff for the week and also to make Nutella brownies with. They were pretty good, a little gooey but that didn't stop anyone. I then proofread a paper and did more research for AA overall it was a really chill day.

A whole lot of nothing but a whole lot of everything

So today I got so much done but then in turn did not see a lot. I slept in until 8:45ish. I then went to the Senate House Library and did so much work. I did take break to buy lunch and eat in the park but besides that I was just going. Here is everything I did today.... Turned an outline into a 2 page 1.5 space essay for Etap Wrote my flash assignment for my seminar. ( It is around 1 page) Started my theatre review- I am going to do it on Othello! Started my Etap Midterm (a series of reviews on our readings) Got underway in research on the Crystal Palace for AA After that I made my way back and after sitting for 2 whole minutes I promptly went back to work to make my presentation with Lily for theater. After that I sat outside for a bit and then inside when I got cold, while finishing my Great Expectations reading for Tuesday. If you are curious I am on page 396, and there have been so many plot twists.  I then started to plan my October break and now I am typing t...

Maxing out the Oyster

Image
Today I went to Highgate cemetery with my seminar. It was a good trip but the tour was significantly longer than any of us were in the mood for. These are some photos I took at the Cemetery. The second photo features Mark and the Egyptian vault. This graves around this tree were designed around the tree because the architect didn't want to move it.  This grave is the home of two lesbians which is interesting because it was very against the culture of the time of their deaths. I may be writing about this for an English assignment so keep your eyes open.  After the Field Trip, Heidi and I popped over to Camden Market and had a look around. While I was there I bought these 2 cow keychains. I think they are super cute and they match! One is going to be for me and the other for Penny.  After Camden, Heidi and I went to Primrose Hill, which is part of Regent's Park. The view was incredible and it was so peaceful and serene. The pano was me trying to...
