Days 3 and 4
So Yesterday was a very productive day and today was not.
Yesterday, I got up and worked out and then showered. A group of us went to Brick Lane which has a bunch of markets which are connected together. I love myself a good market. Most of the Brick Lane Squad didn't buy anything but Eddie and I both bought something from this graphic designer. Eddie got two t-shirts and I got a piece of art. It is a semi accurate sky line mixed with a robot and different marine life interfering with the city-I love it so much I think it is so original. We then went and got food from some stalls. I got this amazing Lemon Fried Chicken and fries. Henry got tenders and fries with a black sauce that looked a lot like a face mask but actually tasted really good- we think it was a black garlic and honey. We then got back and I started to decorate my wall (don't worry, I will post a picture later) and then got dressed for our trip.
We went on a bus/walking tour of London-it included the stuff that you expect to see like Big Ben and the house of parliament and of course Buckingham Palace, which is NOT the queen's favorite resident. After the tour we had some free time in Trafalgar Square, I watched some street artists and learned about the rhinos (these are art sculptures like the paddingtons a few years ago) and I am hoping to find more very soon!
Next we had dinner at the restaurant at the top floor of the National Portrait Gallery. It was a fancy 3 course meal and everyone got a free alcoholic beverage. I tried a strawberry bwlini wine, which I personally enjoyed more that a red I tried. Overall I am still not an alcohol fan though. The waiter was incredible he came straight to my table and got our orders in 20-30 minutes before all the other tables. We then in turn left 20-30 minutes before everyone else and had a nice hour walk down to the dorms. During our walk, I had a great conversation with Henry and Lizzy.
One really exciting thing is that I got to FaceTime back home and then I went to bed.
Today, I got up and worked out. I then walked to sainsbury's only to learn it didn't open until 11 and I had an activity at 12. So I wandered back and ordered books online for my courses. Then I went down to the cinema for the meeting. The meeting was good we did rose-bud-thorn and roommate agreements both of which were helped along by some free pizza. Heidi and I then started laundry and then I went back to the food store. I walked back in the pouring rain and when I had dried off, I started meal prepping for the whole week! Then for most of the afternoon, I hung out with Morgan, Rick and Heidi-it was a really nice time and it is nice to know that I have a community. I am now writing this and then who knows what the evening has in store...
I didn't get all the pictures yet so I will post them when I have them

I think we all will enjoy hearing about your adventures whenever you have time to post.
ReplyDeletethanks for all of the updates - sound like you are having a great time so far :-) Proud of you
ReplyDeleteIf you like markets, try Portobello Road open air market. I think it's on Saturdays but you ought to check because my information is from the time of George III.
