10 Days Later: A Recap
So it has been 10 days since my last post which means I have failed in my goal of posting every other day. However, I am not heart broken because this is my growth curve. So much has happened since the 4th so let me try to catch you up as best as I can.
After the 4th, we were still in session 2 of both res and day camp and I was still with Fun without Sun. I had an amazing rest of the week with my girls and a highlight was definitely going to the national seashore after final campfire. Kale did so much research and was able to share so many cool facts about space whereas I was able to share the mythology behind them.
The next day was Friday and after getting soaked during road, I came into the staff house to drop off a walki and was promptly told without prompting that I was going to be with day camp for the next 2 weeks.
Today is Saturday and it will be 7:30 by the time I finish this post. This past week I was with Day Camp and the theme was Icky Sticky Science. I worked with Caterpillar and we had 10/11 girls. Let me tell you one thing: Day Camp is significantly more work than res-camp and I have actually needed and appreciated my 36 hours off, but more on that shortly. I worked with the younger girls and they were really engaged and kind 70% of the time. When they were not kind it was significantly less fun. I only really had 2 problem children peltacaii and minnow (they really weren't that bad but they butted heads constantly). Also during the overnight one of my girls woke me up screaming like someone was stabbing her, so being super counselor Zander, I throw my shoes on and sprint to the tent... only to find her standing unharmed outside just letting me know that she fell out of the tent. Oh what a time.
Sorry that this is so all over the place I want to make sure the I hit all of the big things for my non-existent readers.
Overall it was a fun but exhausting week and I am honestly excited to do it all again but I do miss res-camp way more than I thought.
