SY 253: Spring Semester take 2

So given the outbreak of Covid-19 and the rising cases in the US, Skidmore, like many other schools, decided to move to virtual classes for the rest of the semester. The whole situation is crappy and not ideal but I am trying to make the most of it. But more of that for a later day. Today I started classes again. I am excited to have the structure back but I do have some concerns about my professors managing online classes. I only had one of my classes today and it went slightly better than I anticipated but I think that is mainly because she was not teaching as much as just giving instructions for our research project and putting us into groups. The whole situation is a little funny because we are meant to design an experiment and then collect our own data but given the situation, she will be making up data and giving to us so you could say it is via GIPHY But we won't think about that too seriously.  More updates to come as I experience more of my classes in this ...

No school

Do you remember being small and hearing that there was a snow day? The excitement that you felt and how free you were to do whatever you wanted (as long as you had your mom's permission). via GIPHY I had that feeling for about a day when I heard that Skidmore was going to be closed the week after break. I was going to be live this sloth, just lazing about, eating snacks, a simple life. via GIPHY via GIPHY However that feeling faded quickly into concern as all of my friends' schools started shutting down and moving to virtual classes. What was I going to do about all of my friends, classes, and extracurricular projects that I had taken on? This feeling continued for a bit until we got the email today sharing that we will be moving to online classes and that I need to move out on Wednesday. To be honest, I am conflicted. I am sure that this is the best decision and will reduce the rate of transmission, however, there is a lot that I have at school that I do not have...

The one with 8 hours of driving

Image
Hi Everyone, I hope February has treated you well. My month has been typical if not a little work heavy but we are rapidly approaching break. On campus this week is midterms, so the general vibe on campus is stressed and agitated but it will be over soon as break starts next week! Which made  this weekend ever more fun. This past Saturday, Elizabeth and I drove to the Corning Museum of Glass ! The driving turned out to be a tad much because round trip was just under 8 hours in the car. However the museum was incredible, they had live demonstrations and glass from all over the world and from so many time periods. Below are some of my pictures, in no particular order, but if you ever have the change to go it is worth the cost of admission(although maybe you will be smarter and do the driving over multiple days). Any way, I hope your week is easier than the average Skidmore College student and I will try to post again over break me
